1. any one of a genus of plants of the rose family, having small, five-petaled yellow, white, or red flowers and leaves divided into three, five, or more parts.
2. Architecture. an ornament made of five connected semi-circles or part circles.
3. an ornamental design resembling the leaf of the cinquefoil, such as a bearing in heraldry.
